Alasta
Alasta is the elder daughter of the Maharani and a young, hands‑on military princess who has been put in charge of the capital's recently initiated city‑wall project; competent and pragmatic, she drives strategic defense initiatives (particularly the landward works and concerns about the river approaches) but defers technical and covert inquiries to specialists—notably summoning Suvatra when the wall was sabotaged by the saurian engineer Mikhailovich—so she functions as a political commander rather than an engineer. She personally inspected the blast sites after the explosions, coordinates with the palace guard and local captains, and balances deference to the spymaster with decisive operational oversight.
Alasta was injured during the slith war and remains in the city recovering; priests and mages have examined her wound extensively, but her recovery has been slow. A nasty cut down her stomach, likely inflicted with a slith-blood-coated blade, transfers magic and DI resistance into the wound, suppressing conventional healing magic. She has offered to attempt healing assistance herself, but only after receiving orders from the Maharani, at which point she will lose the authority to act independently on matters like permitting the party to escort Prince Vishnarani to Blue.
Politically, she is clearly trusted by the court and positioned as a central figure in succession and security conversations around the Maharani. She appears in public strategically (a brief appearance at Princess Miranel's ball) and maintains active involvement in defense planning. She is willing to discuss mage exchanges to support the war effort against the slith, though reluctant to send battle mages to the front lines and more inclined toward weather mages or those with indirect magical effects. Her sister Miranel is more interested in political and informational matters; Alasta directs the party to consult her on other potential reasons to establish contact with Blue.
